The ISSS office serves nearly 150 international students from more than 30 different countries on our UW-Stevens Point campus. They not only assist with your transition from your home country to Stevens Point Wisconsin, but they also assist in making sure you feel right at home when you arrive. The International Friendship Program offers international students a real American Family cultural experience that further immerses them in the UWSP culture.
Students enjoy over 30 different study abroad destinations around the globe. One in every six UWSP students takes advantage of study abroad opportunities offered in the fall, spring, summer and winter terms. Studying Abroad is one of the most unique ways to diversify your college experience while applying yourself academically in a new culture. The National Student Exchange offers the “domestic” version of study abroad. Students enjoy the opportunity of studying in any partnering university in the entire country. The beauty of the program is that students pay UW-Stevens Point tuition while taking advantage of educational experiences at universities that may be more expensive to attend.
Finding housing is pretty easy for international students. They ask about your hobbies and your age, whether you like a quiet place, even what kind of roommate. And I chose my house online. There are really specific details that they want to satisfy your request.
So I took a flight from China to Stevens Point, and the International Student Office will prepared a driver and minivan to pick all the international students up from there-- CW Airport to the campus. So nothing to worry about how to get here.
Stevens Point is not an expensive place to be, because the location fee and the renting apartment fee, so it's really nice, because before I came here, I compared a lot of universities or different places to Steven's Point. And Stevens Point is really nice to have somebody who considered the tuition fee or money they're going to spend.
When I came here, the very first American people I met were the student in the dormitory that signed me in. And they were really patient and guide me to what to do, what to do first, and that's really sweet. And I really appreciate that.
