Study accounting at UW-Stevens Point! Our accounting program in the School of Business and Economics is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Our program will assist you in developing a diverse skill set that will make you marketable for careers in several thriving industries. You will have the opportunity to pair your interests in other majors that will help diversify your college experience.


Accounting is one of the majors offered by the School of Business and Economics Accounting students actually have several different paths that they can choose. Cost accounting, there's financial accounting, use tax accounting. The accounting major is a good place to start in a business field. They build you up with the basics and then add onto the basics. You can do networking, and there's speakers that come in that will talk about various different accounting. They have a lot of opportunities to connect with local professionals. I'm currently an intern at Accounting Workshop for their tax season. A lot of accounting firms will need extra staff during tax season, therefore students can have an internship during the whole spring semester. An internship provides you with the hands-on experience that you'll need when you graduate. We also have a very strong study abroad program designed for our students. They have a special China internship and London internship. When you go, you learn about different manufacturers in China. It's a really life-changing experience for them. All the professors are wonderful. You have a very close relationship with your teachers - they're always offering to help you. Try to get you jobs, try to get you experience. They make it so that as the student, you excel. We are an AACSB accredited program.

You will basically be able to go anywhere, and your employers will look at you and see that you are from a school that is accredited as one of the top schools in the nation. The classes are great, the professors are awesome, there's great advising. The placement for accounting after graduation actually is very good. With your degree there's a lot of different things you can do. There's a demand for an accountant in every business. It's something that I feel like I'll be able to look forward to doing for the rest of my life. So if you are detail-oriented, like organization, like numbers and enjoy challenges, accounting is for you.
